Extension office offers free workshop, screening
The Boyle County Extension Office, 99 Corporate Drive, offers a free Stroke Risk Screening 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at its office. Assessments are for those 18 years of age and older. Participants must not drink or eat anything but water 12 hours prior to screening. Medications may be taken with water.
Screenings include: stroke risk assessment; cholesterol — fasting and non-fasting; glucose — fasting and non-fasting; body mass index; colorectal cancer screening kits, for those over 50; blood pressure; and a registered nurse consultation. Participants must call the office for an appointment.
• The Extension Office also offers a free Trendy Small Kitchen Appliances workshop 6 p.m. Monday. Small kitchen appliances have made home cooking easier over the years. Recently, items such as the electric programmable pressure cooker and air fryers have made their way into our homes. This free program will introduce health benefits, safety, and use of electric programmable pressure cookers such as the Instant Pot and air fryers. Participants who attend will be entered in a drawing to win an air fryer. Call (859) 236-4484 to sign up for either of these events.
