The second wooden column was cut apart and loaded up to be hauled off after it was taken down on Friday.
After months of waiting for new columns for the front of Toliver Intermediate School (formerly Toliver Elementary School), Griggs Enterprises set about placing the first one on Thursday.
The wooden columns at the school are being replaced with fiberglass ones, said Ed McKinney, director of pupil personnel. McKinney said the school district wanted to restore the wooden columns, it would have been too expensive. A second column was placed on Friday.
