McConnell hypocritical on Supreme Court seat

Dear Editor,

In recent times we have been told that confidence in our government is at an all-time low. Lack of trust in our elected representatives to rule in a fair and truthful manner has become a subject of conversation in almost every venue.

And this is NON-PARTISAN!

But Sen. Mitch McConnell now has become the FACE of this crippling and hopeless cloud that hangs over our Democracy. When our last president appointed Judge Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, the senator would not even give him a hearing because the election was 293 days away. Yet the midterms are 123 days or so from now. His reason … too close to the election!

He has been recorded as saying this action was the proudest achievement in his role as majority leader of the Senate. So now we see him determined to push through confirmation of this new appointee quickly. His president even hopes this will happen “before Labor Day.”

How can we have confidence in a leader or those who support him when he uses his position in our government to manipulate outcomes that are so contradictory? It seems like use of power has become a trivial game — win at any cost.
