Lemonade for a cause

Max Gaddis, 4, wanted to open a lemonade stand during his parents’ yard sale earlier this month, and he decided to donate profits to the Shop With a Cop program in Boyle and Mercer counties. Max’s dad is a deputy in Mercer County. Max raised around $50, which he recently delivered to Mercer County Sheriff Ernie Kelty. Max also wanted to spread the word that anyone can donate to Shop With a Cop. Donations for Boyle County can be taken to the Boyle County Sheriff’s Office and given to Sheriff Derek Robbins or Chief Deputy Chris Stratton. Mercer County donations can be delivered to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office to Chief Deputy Scott Elder or Deputy Wes Gaddis. Any amount will be accepted. Shop with a Cop takes place each year in December. Deputies and officers are assigned children who they take to Walmart to shop for Christmas gifts. The children enjoy a day out with law enforcement, who also take them out to eat. The amounts spent range from $150-200 for each child, depending on how much is raised and how many donations are made.
