Next up at Pioneer Playhouse, from July 31-Aug. 4, is “Unnecessary Farce,” an award-winning comedy by Paul Slade Smith. Pictured above, Billie (Andi Johnson), Eric (Giancarlo Herrera) and Karen (Erika Lee Sengstack) are all unnerved when Todd, the Scottish Hitman (Daniel Hall Kuhn) arrives on the scene. “Unnecessary Farce” is directed by Sara Rademacher, her first time as a director at Kentucky’s oldest outdoor theater. The play combines all the elements of classic farce with a contemporary, American plot. Kuhn, a longtime playhouse favorite, plays Todd, a Scottish hitman whose brogue becomes thicker and more incomprehensible the angrier he gets. For tickets: pioneerplayhouse.com, (859) 236-2747.
