Main Street Live helps make Danville great place

Dear Editor,
On the evening of July 19 in Weisiger Park, I had the honor of performing with my band at the Heart of Danville’s Main Street Live event. While the quality of music that evening is debatable, the atmosphere of community engagement and fellowship was undeniable.
From my bird’s-eye view, I saw kids attempting to play cornhole, the Hub selling food on the street, representatives from The Soul of 2nd Street Festival talking with passers-by, and a few hundred people gathered to enjoy a beautiful evening with their neighbors in a common space.
While I will forever be grateful to Centre College for bringing my wife and me to Danville, events like Main Street Live remind me that this is a great place to build a life.
The next Main Street Live is this Thursday, Aug. 16, when Jonathan Hutcherson takes the Weisiger stage. I encourage everyone to come out, relax, hear some good music and celebrate this beautiful community we’ve built here. And while you’re at it, tell Nick Wade and Dustin Duvall at Heart of Danville that you appreciate the work they do.
