Birthday: Shepherd turns 100
Ancil Shepherd turned 100 on Aug. 8. The railroad group, NARVRE, celebrated his birthday on Thursday, Aug. 9, at Danville Bowlarama.
Shepherd started work on the railroad in 1943 and retired in 1978. He was a brakeman and a representative for UTU starting in 1959. He also was state legislative director for Kentucky for 15 years.
Lawanna Smith, claims representative for the Railroad Louisville field office, was in attendance to present Ancil with a certificate of achievement for his 35 years of railroad service.
