Jewell Kirby

1929-2018

Jewell Kirby, 89, of Lancaster, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Landmark of Lancaster.

Born May 3, 1929, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Eddie and Mary Sherrow Preston. She had been a 25-year employee of Palm Beach Company and enjoyed cross stitching in her spare time.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard “Boo” Kirby; as well as a sister, Della Mae Raines.

Her survivors include a son, Dale (Teresa) Kirby of Lancaster; a daughter, Geraldine (Sam) Story of Harrodsburg; three grandchildren, Autumn Gorley, April Clark and Kim Vanderpool; as well as three great grandchildren, Ella, Emma and Elijah Gorley.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2018 at Ramsey-Young Funeral Home by Revs. Darin Jensin and Tanner Shomin. Burial will follow in Lancaster Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Gorley, Jason Clark, Darren Johnson, Gordon Sherron, Ricky Mullins and Sam Story. Honorary bearers will be her friends of faith.

Her visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19 at the funeral home.
