Beverly Jean Brown, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully at her home in Louisville, on August 20, 2018. Bev will be dearly missed by her son, Josh Bleidt and his wife, Amy, their children Teanna and Cheyann, her grandchildren, Kari and Layla Schwantes, brother, John Brown, and his wife Anita, nephew Jason Brown, and nieces Kerry Trautner, Shelley Longo, Cassandra Brown, and son-in-law, Mark Schwantes.

Bev was predeceased by her parents, John William Brown and Dorothy Southwood Brown, daughter Lindsey Bleidt-Schwantes, and John Bleidt.

Beverly was born in Danville, Ky. Her family moved to Louisville in 1950. Bev spent many summers in Danville with her grandmother, Mary Southwood, and her childhood friends. Beverly attended Centre College of Kentucky and received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville. Bev began her career as an elementary teacher in Louisville. After obtaining her PhD, she practiced as a Child Psychologist for more than thirty years.

Bev was a kind, caring, compassionate person with a deep social awareness. Throughout her career as a practicing psychologist, Beverly provided aid and comfort to many families in the Louisville area. She was a committed child advocate, volunteer advisor to the Exploited Children’s Help Organization (ECHO), and expert witness in court cases involving abused children.

Bev was a lifelong animal lover who always owned at least one dog. Bev looked forward to family summer vacations in Hilton Head, South Carolina, often with her brother and his family. She was a very social person and enjoyed entertaining at her home.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 2018. A service of remembrance will be held at 6 p.m. Pearson’s Funeral Home 149 Breckenridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40207, Telephone (502) 896-0349 is in charge of arrangements.
