Hilary Blevins and Roger Fox with Shepherd’s House in Danvillewere the featured presenters at the Aug. 16 Kiwanis Club of Danville lunch meeting.
Blevins and Fox shared their testimonials about where they are now in service to others who need the Shepherd’s House’s transitional residential treatment program after having overcome their own addictions in years past.
The Kiwanis membership was quite moved to hear their stories, and to discover all that they are doing to help individuals, through sponsoring and counseling, who are going through many of those same issues now.
Shepherd’s House began in Danville in February 2017. Currently, those going through the program come from the Boyle County Detention Center after misdemeanor convictions. Many of them are working to overcome substance abuse addictions. They go through a 9 a.m.-9 p.m. day reporting program Monday through Friday. This unique program helps them work through struggles as they figure out the resources available in the area to help with transitional housing, mental health programs, and employment opportunities.
