Garrard grand jury hands up indictments on seven

The following people were indicted by a Garrard County grand jury on Sept. 7:

• Joseph Denny, 27, 2124 Buckeye Road, Lancaster: first degree robbery with physical injury; Bail was set at $20,000 cash. Officer Cheek with the Lancaster Police Department testified.

• Carlos Carpenter, 22, 219 Richmond St., Lancaster: first degree robbery with physical injury; Bail was set at $20,000 cash. Officer Cheek with the Lancaster Police Department testified.

• David Lainhart, 26, 101 Milarn Court, Lancaster: first-degree possession of a controlled substance, heroin; third-degree possession of a controlled substance, Xanax; tampering with physical evidence. Bail was set at $2,500 cash. Officer Smith with the LPD testified.

• Otis Amburgey, 52, 168 Doty Lane, Lancaster: first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of drug paraphernalia; driving a vehicle under the influence of intoxicants; third-degree assault of an officer; failure to use headlamps; third-degree terroristic threatening to an officer; resisting arrest. Bail was set at $5,000 cash Officer Weston with the Garrard County Police Department testified.

• James Callahan, 45, 1065 Tanner Branch Road, Lancaster: two-counts third-degree burglary; theft by unlawful taking of property valued $500 or more. Bail was set at $2,500. Tevis Graham with the Garrard County Police Department testified.

• Janae Coffman, 43, 1065 Tanner Branch Road, Lancaster:  two-counts third-degree burglary; theft by unlawful taking of property valued $500 or more. Bail was set at $2,500. Tevis Graham with the Garrard County Police Department testified.

• Chad Lear, 36, 176 Newley St. Berea: first-degree possession of a controlled substance, meth; DUI; driving on a suspended license; third-degree assault of officer; tampering with physical evidence; second-degree fleeing or evading police; resisting arrest. Bail was set at $5,000 chase. Weston testified.
