DCA supports Cancer Awareness

Danville Christian Academy (DCA) students took time out to support Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

DCA students declared September 14 Pajamin’ Day. Students celebrated the day by wearing pajamas and donated money to Wyatt’s Warriors. The money will be used to keep the toy chests at UK Pediatric Hospital full. Headmaster Jim Ward presented Wyatt with a check for $325.

DCA student Wyatt Fielder was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2014. During Wyatt’s treatments, he endured many painful procedures and spent over 119 days in the hospital. When Wyatt became well, he told his grandfather he wished there was a toy chest in the hospital. He felt they needed to have toy chests in the hospital just like in doctor’s offices. Wyatt’s grandfather helped him build a toy chest and the family dedicated it to the University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital in December 2014. Since then, they have built two more toy chests.

Casey Wilson, office manager at DCA, said when we began this fundraiser, she “quickly realized that Molly (her daughter) has received from this toy chest numerous times!.I cannot explain the amount of pure happiness Molly felt when that first Minnie Mouse toy was delivered to her room after a no-fun day with her doctors. I am so thankful for people like Wyatt and his family that choose to continue to love others first.”

You can support Wyatt’s Warriors through their Facebook page, Wyatt’s Warriors Toy Chest or through their website: acco.org/wyattswarriors.
