Mayes for magistrate in District 1

Dear Editor,

With the upcoming general election approaching, I feel compelled to ask the voters of the first Magisterial District to keep Dickie Mayes as their magistrate. I have known Dickie for some 48 years, and I know of very few people that have the integrity, honesty and genuine desire to help others as Dickie Mayes.

Our families have attended the same church for many years. Dickie has served as deacon and trustee of the church for as long as I can remember. No matter what the issue or project the church had, Dickie Mayes is always the first to volunteer. It might be driving the church van, mowing of the church lawn, or helping a plumber or electrician with a job at the church. He does all of this without any fanfare or recognition.

I served many years with Dickie on the Perryville Fire Department and in the early days of the county rescue squad. This was a volunteer organization and Dickie was a very important part. He has served many years as a commissioner on the Parksville Water District Board. He was instrumental in securing water to parts of the westend of Boyle County.

I know firsthand of Dickie’s desire to help others. I owned and operated Wilder Funeral Home in Perryville for some 42 years; I cannot begin to list the many times I have called Dickie to assist me in making a removal of someone’s loved one from their place of death, which could be at 3 a.m. and in some very difficult circumstances. Never one time did he refuse. He has driven the hearse in the funeral procession and has assisted us at the cemetery.

In conclusion, I humbly ask the voters of the first district to re-elect Dickie Mayes as their magistrate.
