Danville and Boyle are rivals and everyone knows it. They have been rivals for, seemingly, as long as time. Soccer is no exception. With a record of seven wins to only four losses, I’d say our Lady Ads Soccer Team is doing very well. However, before everything is said and done, our girls want a chance to avenge Boyle after their 0-1 loss. Districts would be the perfect time to do so.

As senior Zoe Gooch says, “I feel very confident going into the district tournament because I know our team has the capability of mercy-ruling Lincoln and beating Boyle.”

And it is not just seniors hyped about their season. Sophomore Jenna Akers says, “I am looking forward to beating Boyle in the district finals.”

The girls have had a great season so far, on and off the field. Soccer is a place where the girls made lots of memories. Lara Akers says, “I really like Friday Practices because we play games as a team and listen to music. This is one of the ways our team bonds.”

As this soccer season comes to a close, Districts is just one stepping stone to what many of these girls want. Jenna Akers says, “I want to make it into the All A Tournament because our team hasn’t done it since around 2007.”

Other players have goals beyond Danville in mind. Gooch wants to play in college. “I had a realization the other day during the LCA game about how much I love soccer so playing in college would be something I would love to do,” she said.

Regardless of our girls’ end goals, Districts and the potential matchup with Boyle County have their focus now.

“We are a team full of skill, passion and addiction, so the district tournaments are just like any other game,” says Gooch.

We are eager to see that skill and passion on the field during our Fall Break.
