Smiley and Strysick for Danville school board

I am writing today to urge everyone to vote on Tuesday, Nov. 6! Elections have consequences and perhaps none more important than the election of local candidates to serve our citizens in both partisan and nonpartisan offices. One of our most important non-partisan races is that for Danville Independent school board members.

I have known Paul Smiley and his family for many years. He has served our community well in many roles. I was pleased when, shortly after deciding to run for school board, he stopped me one morning as I passed his house on my walk. He asked for my support and I gladly gave it. Paul served on the school board several years ago, served one term as a city commissioner, and has been an active member of the Boyle County Retired Teachers Association. He is a good listener, fair, and strives to learn all he can about an issue before making a decision. I believe his experience will serve the citizens of Danville well.

I also support Michael Strysick for the Danville School Board. I met Michael, his wife, Karen, and their two girls when they moved to Danville several years ago as they were our neighbors. We’ve had the pleasure of watching his daughters grow to be accomplished young women and proud students in the Danville Schools. Michael has served the citizens of Danville well as a member of the site-based council at John W. Bate Middle School and on the Search Committee that resulted in the hiring of Dr. Shelton as superintendent.
