Archer is a cute three-and-a-half-month-old orange and white kitten. This sweet little fellow was a stray that was brought to the humane society by a citizen concerned for his safety. Archer has an outgoing personality and loves to play with his kennel mates. He likes to explore his surroundings and then is ready to nap in your arms. Archer has been neutered and is ready to start the rest of his life with a loving family.

Chelsea is a beautiful one-and-a-half-year-old Pit Bull mix. She has a wonderful, shiny brown and white coat and weighs 40 pounds. Chelsea is all wiggles when she greets you. That tail of hers just can’t stop wagging! Chelsea loves to play in the exercise yard and will carry her toys around endlessly. Chelsea needs to be an only pet as she will chase kitties and does not get along with other dogs. If you are able to give Chelsea the special home that she deserves, come for a visit and see how quickly you become best friends.

There are two weeks left in October to take advantage of our special dog and puppy adoptions fees during Adopt-A-Shelter Dog month. Puppies are just $65 and dogs over six months of age are $50 to adopt. This includes the spay or neuter surgery and age appropriate vaccinations and deworming. At the DBCHS we have many beautiful and loving puppies and dogs that are waiting to find their perfect forever home. If you have been considering adding a canine member to your family, why not choose your next best friend during this special month.

If you’re not ready or able to adopt at this time but still would like to help the homeless animals, you can donate much needed cleaning supplies such as bleach, laundry detergent, Pine Sol, paper towels, hand soap and hand sanitizer. The humane society also needs blankets and towels to use as bedding for the animals especially as we go into the cooler months. Your gifts are always appreciated.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes. Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
