Boyle Education Foundation launches ‘Take a Seat’campaign
BOYLE COUNTY SCHOOLS
The Boyle County Education Foundation Inc. (BCEF) has launched a fundraising effort in support of the new Boyle County Schools Theatre for the Performing Arts. The goal for the Take a Seat campaign is to raise $125,000 — the cost of purchasing and installing the theatre’s 500 seats. Campaign gifts of $250 will be recognized with an engraved plaque affixed to a seat.
BCEF Chairperson Angela Frisby stated, “We’re excited to offer the community an opportunity to become a part of building the theatre. It will not only be an exceptional space for students to learn and grow in, but it will also be a tremendous cultural asset for the entire community.” She continued, “I think if people understood the caliber and transformative nature of this facility, most would be energized and want to be involved in some way.”
“The impact will be tremendous,” commented Boyle County Schools Superintendent Mike LaFavers. “The experiences that our kids will have in the theatre’s spaces will shape their confidence and nurture their passions. Many will begin building their professional résumés right here.”
LaFavers continued, “Thanks to the continued support of our community and the Foundation, we are building a facility that complements the strength of our already-impressive arts education programs. The theater will allow us to expand and develop new curriculums that inspire creativity and support our student artists like never before. No other theatre on a K-12 campus in Kentucky will compare to this one.”
The Boyle County Schools Theatre for the Performing Arts is expected to open in January of 2020 and will be equipped to host school and community-based performances, as well as attract first-class touring Broadway musicals and plays. The proscenium theatre will feature a full fly loft with professional rigging, orchestra pit, performance lighting and sound, multilevel seating, lobby with ticket office, scenery shop and green room.
BCEF is a non-profit organization that has invested more than $300,000 in educational programs throughout Boyle County Schools over the last seven years.
