Etherington for Danville school board

This letter is in support of Aaron Etherington for the Danville Schools Board of Education. I had three sons that attended Danville High School from 2004-2012. Mr. Etherington taught each of them at various times throughout their high school years.
In particular, his AP US History and AP World History classes not only challenged my children, but gave them the confidence that they could be better persons by embracing learning. He taught them skill sets that have stayed with them as they have pursued post graduate degrees. He taught them that the pursuit of knowledge never ends, but is a lifelong undertaking. He understands what is needed to motivate children and that one of the strengths of the Danville Schools is its diversity of students — he will work to make sure that ALL students succeed, not just in the classroom, but also in life situations.
His own child currently attends elementary school in the school district which gives him even a greater perspective of the Danville Schools — of a parent. Mr. Etherington brings many qualities to the Board of Education; he has been a teacher here, he is an administrator, he is a parent of a current district student. The Danville Schools’ Vision statement concludes that students “grow as productive individuals and team members.” Mr. Etherington will work to ascertain this happens.
