The Heart of Danville says it wants to reward shoppers who direct a portion of their shopping budget to the local community of Danville. Beginning Saturday, which is the ninth annual Small Business Saturday in downtown, shoppers can play Christmas Tree Bingo.

Bingo cards are available at any of the 20 participating retailers. Each participating business will have its own way of marking a designated ornament on bingo cards. Shoppers will be entered into a drawing to win a $100 Visa gift card.

Nick Wade, director of The Heart, says there will be other prizes awarded, as well.

“Small Business Saturday is a great day to show your favorite local business some love,” Wade said. He said while The Heart encourages everyone to spread the message of “Shop Small” year-round, “when you celebrate on Small Business Saturday, you join over 88 million customers to celebrate the small businesses that we love.”

Wade said downtown businesses will have “Shop Small” swag, including stickers, tote bags and other goodies to pass out to customers who choose to shop small.

Bingo is achieved by having five ornaments on the tree, which equals one entry into the drawing. Any additional ornaments over five will be worth three entries each into the drawing, and a Bingo blackout — having the entire card marked — results in 20 entries into the drawing.

Bingo forms must be turned in 4-8 p.m. Dec. 21 at Skate on Main, the downtown rink which will be in Weisiger Park.
