The special clients at A Gathering Place Adult Day Health Care enjoyed a Christmas party with lots of presents Tuesday afternoon, thanks to the Boyle County Democratic Executive Committee and Democratic Women’s Club.

Anita Pike, director of the program said, “They’re appreciative of everything!”

The adult day health care is a safe and stimulating place for adults who may be unable to live independently or who are disabled or chronically ill, but prefer to live at home.

The clients’ wish lists consisted of nothing extravagant, usually socks, sweatshirts and pants, jackets, washcloths, towels a watch or makeup. Some of the clients also enjoy receiving books, toy cars and baby dolls. One of the more unusual requests this year came from a man who asked for a coffee pot and toilet paper, Pike said.

When Santa arrived, the room buzzed as the clients waited to see what gifts under the tree were for them. Members of the Democratic committee and women’s club were also on hand to hand out gifts with lots of smiles and hugs for everyone.
