Helen Downey Wearren

1922-2019

Helen Downey Wearren, 96, of Lancaster, passed away, Wednesday, January 2, 2019. Born Saturday, January 14, 1922, in Casey County, she was the daughter of the late George and Gladys Downey and the widow of Billy Wearren. She was a teacher for Casey County schools. After, marrying her husband, they operated a dairy farm for several years. Shortly after that, they went on to run an antique shop for 25 years together.

She is preceded in death by two brothers, June Downey and Thomas Downey; as well as a nephew, Thomas Wayne Downey.

Survivors include a special sister, Marie Downey; two nieces, Lisa (Tom) Butterfield and Patty Downey; two nephews, David (Roseann) Downey and Daniel (Jane) Downey. As well as several special caregivers that we are extremely grateful for.

A private graveside ceremony will be held at the Lancaster Cemetery officiated by her long time friend, Rev. Bill Rhodus with the burial to follow.
