Dedman Primary Care welcomes Laurie Heflin Collins

DANVILLE — Ephraim McDowell Dedman Primary Care welcomes Laurie Heflin Collins, A.P.R.N., FNP-BC, to the practice. She is providing primary care to patients of all ages. Collins will be joining Dr. Courtney Maiden and Melissa Sims, A.P.R.N.

Laurie earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky in 1992.  She has spent the last 26 years specializing in critical care and post anesthesia care.  She completed her master’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in January 2018 and is board-certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner. She has a special interest in preventative medicine and promoting a healthy lifestyle for optimal health.

Collins lives in Lexington with her husband and three children. During her free time, she enjoys exercise, reading, time with family and outdoor activities.

Ephraim McDowell Health welcomes cardiologist Shawn Flynn

DANVILLE — Ephraim McDowell Health welcomes cardiologist, Shawn Flynn, M.D., to the medical staff.  He will be seeing patients at the Ephraim McDowell Heart & Vascular Institute, 216 W Walnut St. in Danville.

Dr. Flynn is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, cardiovascular medicine and interventional cardiology. He received an additional dedicated year of training at Henry Ford Hospital in structural heart disease specializing in evaluation and treatment of valvular heart disease (aortic stenosis, mitral regurgitation, etc.), inappropriate holes of the heart, and stroke-risk reduction in the setting of atrial fibrillation.

In his free time, Dr. Flynn enjoys spending time with his wife, Samantha, and their four young children. They are active in their local church and passionate about helping others grow in their Christian walk, saying, “They have been called to help all matters of the heart.”

Liberty Family Medical Center welcomes Glen Ware

DANVILLE — Glen Ware, APRN, has joined the staff at Ephraim McDowell Liberty Family Medical Center. He is providing primary care to patients of all ages.

Glen earned his bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2013 from Eastern Kentucky University and his master’s in nursing in 2018 from Walden University.  He is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and has a special interest in the management of diabetes and hypertension.

Glen and his wife, Tonya, live in Kings Mountain. During his free time, he enjoys listening to music, going to festivals and camping.
