I would like to thank Eben Henson for his letter of Jan. 9 titled “Stop the shutdown and build the wall.” I agree with his comments 100-percent — the Democrats are dead wrong about shutting down the government over the cost of building the wall to protect our southern border.  The financial burden of illegal aliens is much higher than the cost of the wall.

Mr. Henson mentions such issues as human trafficking, drug smuggling, etc. that come our way with the influx of illegal aliens. To his list I would add the health risks these individuals also bring — TB, influenza, pneumonia, etc.

Hatred for our president is petty and foolish, as Mr. Henson states, and is a poor reason for endangering our country.
