Billy Gene Bottom

1937-2019

Billy Gene Bottom, 81, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019. He was born in Marion County on June 9, 1937, to the late Allen Bottom and Iva Bottoms and was married to his loving wife Martha Gibson Bottom for 63 years.

Billy Gene loved fishing, gardening, farming and Western movies. He played the upright bass and enjoyed playing bluegrass gospel music. Most important to Billy Gene was his family, particularly his great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Martha, survivors are two children, Billy K. Bottom (Susan Lanham), Lisa Bottom Pankey; two grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah) Bottom, Amanda (Rick) Shearer; three great-grandchildren, Elly Bottom, Matthew and Jacob Shearer; and his twin sister, Josephine (Berdie) Bugg.

Along with his parents, Billy Gene was preceded in death by six siblings.

The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, February 1, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Bro. Jami Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8:00 p.m., Thursday January 31, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bottom, Bobby Joe Wheeler, Paul McCrystal, David Hastings, Jimmy Johnson and Dean Carpenter. Honorary bearers will be Rick Shearer, Jeff Preston, Gerald Hunt, Bruce Pheasant, Bill Jones, and Bobby Daugherty.
