Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger said many details are still being worked out, but one fatality has been reported after an incident at Ky. 328 and U.S. 27 in Waynesburg.
“The best thing you can do is tell motorists to stay away from this area,” Folger said around 8 p.m. Friday.
All that’s clear at this point is a tanker truck was involved in a collision with an SUV. Folger says witnesses stated the SUV pulled out in front of the truck.
“Another vehicle was possibly involved, that possibly struck one of the guys who got thrown out of the vehicle” during the collision, Folger said. “He may have been run over, we’re still gathering information.”
That man was pronounced dead at the scene, but the identification of those involved has not been released.
Folger was asked if any other information could be released; some reports state authorities are looking for a white SUV with heavy front-end damage.
“I’d rather not release anything else at this time, because it’s been turned over to KSP,” Foger said, referring to Kentucky State Police.
KSP Public Information Officer Robert Purdy has not been able to be reached.
Lincoln County Coroner Farris Marcum was contacted on the scene. “There’s nothing I can tell you right now, we’re working this thing, it’s like a puzzle and it’s a mess out here.”
