Geneva Johnson Powell

1921-2019

Geneva Johnson Powell, 98, wife of 75 years to Chester Powell, passed away Jan. 29, 2019 at Provisional Living at Beaumont Centre in Lexington, Ky.

Born January 15, 1921 in Lexington, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Jacob A. and Leila Marie Long Johnson. Mrs. Powell was a devoted wife and mother, a former member of Tates Creek Christian Church and a current member of Southern Heights Baptist Church.

Survivors other than her husband include three of four children, Marcia (Craig) Callihan, Ruth (Bruce) Kingkade, and James (Jamie) Powell; daughter-in-law, Sally (Rick) Beacraft; six grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and seven great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary Powell; granddaughter, Rhonda Wood; and three siblings.

Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, Feb. 4, at Southern Heights Baptist Church, 3408 Clays Mill Rd., Lexington, Ky., by Pastor Bill Boldt. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday until the service at the church.
