1942-2019
Kathryn Mae Young, 76, passed away, Friday, February 1, 2019. She was born in Gravel Switch, Ky., September 18, 1942, to the late James and Georgia Bottoms Moran. She was the loving wife of Howard “Richard” Young for 53 years. Kathryn was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, and cooking for her family.
In addition to her husband, Richard, survivors are two children, Timothy Wayne Young and Shelia Dianah Young; four grandchildren, Nicole (Daniel) Dattilo, Damien (Abbra) Young, Sasha (D.J.) McDonald and Senequale Young; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Dora Grey, Alice Lacy and Dorothy Ellery; and a brother, Herb (Phoebe) Moran.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Emma Warner and Mary Lou Hagan; and brother, Edward Moran.
The funeral mass will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, Harrodsburg, with Fathers Al DeGiacomo and Norman Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery Perryville. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church prior to the Mass.
Pallbearers will be Tony Young, Greg Baker, Henry Baker, Jr., Billy Hagan, Daniel Dattilo and Damien Young. Honorary bearer is Darryl McDonald.
Memorial contributions are requested to Kosair Charities or Backpack Buddies.
