Margaret Carter McWhorter, 85, of Danville, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at her home. Born October 15, 1933, in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Vernon Dunn and Ollie Powers Carter. She was a kind, hardworking lady that was like a second Mother and Grandmother to many. She retired after 20 years from Genesco and along with her husband, had owned and operated Hustonville Restaurant and the Redwood Restaurant in Lancaster.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas “Goose” McWhorter; daughter, Vicki McWhorter Lay; grandson, Michael Wesley Ray; brothers, Carl and Paul Carter; sister, Elizabeth Reed; and Gizmo, her Jack Russell.

Survivors include her daughter, Paulette McWhorter of Danville; son, Terry L. McWhorter of Danville; five grandchildren, Neil Ray, Dustin Ray, Todd Conger, Heather Roop and Samantha Feldman; 16 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Carter of Stanford; and brother-in-law, Wallace Reed of Athens, Ga.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Monday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Phillip Coffman with burial in Hustonville Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Neil Ray, Dustin Ray, Todd Conger, Matthew Ray, Jarod Roop and Christian Ray. Visitation is 5-9 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions suggested to Heritage Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association. Guestbook at www.wlpruitt.com.
