David Richard Osborn, 76, died Friday, March 8, 2019 at The Willows of Harrodsburg. Born January 4, 1943, in Louisville, he was the son of the late Frank and Gertrude Crossman Osborn. He was a music major at Eastern Kentucky University, where he also began his professional music career as lead singer and trumpet player of “The Maroons,” Eastern’s premiere dance band. “The Maroons” went on to become “Action Unlimited,” which traveled to California in the mid-sixties and had a national record release in 1966. The group was affiliated with the Dick Clark Organization, performed on Dick Clark’s Caravan of Stars, in Las Vegas, and was very popular on the west coast club circuit. Mr. Osborn performed for many years afterward, including USO tours overseas. He enjoyed gardening and the stock market.

Survivors include one daughter, Dawn Lane Osborn of Gravel Switch; one granddaughter, Olivia JeNean Graas of Gravel Switch; one sister, Caroline Osborn Cox of Turner’s Station; one niece and one nephew and their children, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Dava JeNean Osborn Jones.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Chad Horn officiating. Burial will be in Elder Cemetery with Dewey Pope, Tom Colgan, Kent Fox, Bill Rauth, and Jerry Morse serving as pallbearers.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 7:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
