Blown with the wind

Windy weather probably was the cause of several old glass panes falling from a third-floor window of the Coldwell Banker VIP Realty building on West Main Street early Thursday afternoon. Danville Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike McCurdy said a renovation crew in the building cleaned up the broken glass but needed assistance in stabilizing the window from outside until repairs could be made.
Firefighters used their ladder truck to reach the windows and firefighter Larry Davidson taped loose panes to the mullion. Normally they would screw plywood over the window, but carrying a sheet of plywood that high in windy weather “was not worth the risk,” McCurdy said.
