School Chapter of FFA presented a very detailed program that included a well prepared visual

presentation to Kiwanis Club of Danville.

The program began with an overview of FFA activities.

Washington Leadership Conference is a premier leadership conference held in Washington D.C. where members learn to be service and citizenship minded along with gaining unique experiences.

FFA Camp is held in Hardinsburg every summer and is an opportunity for members to gain leadership skills through many different classes and enjoy fellowship with different chapters around the state.

212/360 Leadership Conferences are two conferences that enable members to grow their leadership skills. 212 is for freshman and sophomore members and 360 is for junior and senior members.

FFA Week is a week is to celebrate the organization and is held in correspondence with George Washington’s birthday in February. During this week there are many events like the degree ceremony, various dress up days at school to show FFA spirit and a teacher’s appreciation breakfast where FFA members prepare a variety of breakfast foods and serve the teachers to show gratitude and appreciation.

Fall Cookout is an annual event for all FFA members to share a meal and engage in friendly competition called “Ag Olympics”.

Wildlife Baby Shower will be held on March 25 and is an opportunity for a local rehabilitation group to provide a list of materials needed and for FFA members to gather the supplies. The group leader will educate members about some of the things the group does and might even bring in some animals!

Ted Talks is a new goal for one of the chapter’s committee members, is scheduled for April 19 and will allow teachers, students or others who are invited to speak about life experiences. Jonathan Hutcherson from “The Voice” is a special guest that is scheduled.

The Alumni Machinery Auction was held recently at The Showroom where consignment pieces of farm equipment were sold. This event is really popular among the community and usually is a big hit!

The school greenhouse is something that the chapter takes great pride in. Flowers, herbs and vegetables are sold in the spring season and FFA members work there after school to help pay for State Convention costs. The greenhouse will open this season on April 8th.

Ag shop/Aquaculture offers the Shop classes and Aquaculture classes most of their hands on activities. There are many projects that take place during the year and that involve the chapter’s fish tanks. The Aquaculture students measure the PH levels and other factors in the tanks for hands on experience.
