Johnny Stewart Cocanougher

1952-2019

Johnny Stewart Cocanougher, 66, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was born in Boyle County on May 7, 1952, to Denny Stewart and Joanne Huffman Cocanougher and was married to his loving wife, Sherrie Barker Cocanougher for 38 years.

Johnny was a pre-trial release officer with AOC for 32 years, he attended Pleasant Run Baptist Church and served as Boyle County/Danville Parks and Recreation Program Director, he enjoyed traveling to and attending minor league baseball games, he collected baseball cards and enjoyed mowing. He operated a framing business and took great pride in his work no matter what he was doing. Johnny loved his family and was especially proud of his children. He loved the beach, and his vacation time was usually spent there with his family.

In addition to his parents and wife, Johnny is survived by a daughter, Heather Cocanougher (Grant Miller), sons, Paden Spenser Cocanougher, Caleb Seth Cocanougher (fiance Jessica Durham), three grandchildren, Joseph Muth, Victoria and Hunter Miller, and two brothers, David Cocanougher (Monique), and Tommy Cocanougher (Barbara).

A time of visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 29, 2019 at Pleasant Run Baptist Church. The funeral service and burial will be private.

Honorary bearers will be Charlie Perry, Harold Logue, Keith Meyers, John Drake, Tommy McGirr, Al Atmore and Keith Strickland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Pride in The Park (Danville Boyle County Parks and Rec) and The Danville Humane Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Walden Funeral Home Perryville.
