Equal Pay Day is April 2. To help attain that goal, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has created a new online workshop specifically designed to teach women how to negotiate salaries for a new job or promotion. Following completion of this workshop, women will gain confidence in their ability to negotiate salaries, pay raises, promotions, and other job benefits.

Why are negotiation skills so important? AAUW’s research on the gender pay gap shows that, one year out of college, women are already paid significantly less than men. In 2012, women one year out of college who were working full-time were paid, on average, just 82 percent of what their male peers were paid. Those lost potential earnings add up over a lifetime. In Kentucky, the median earnings ratio in 2017 was 79 percent.

This free online course will give women the tools they need to successfully negotiate and close the pay gap for women everywhere. The workshop, found at https://salary.aauw.org , takes approximately one hour to complete.
