Gladys Carol Holman

1931-2019

Gladys Carol Holman, 87, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2019. She was born in Boyle County on November 3, 1931, one of 12 children of the late Ernest and Sarah “Sadie” Clarkson Westerfield and was the widow of Ernest Holman who passed away in 2018.

Gladys was a member of Mitchellsburg United Methodist Church and worked as a seamstress. She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and feeding the birds. Gladys also enjoyed camping and fishing with her late husband, Ernest.

Survivors include a son, Ernest Holman, Jr. (Deborah); daughter, Gail Holman (Charlie Lee); two grandchildren, Cory Holman, Kelley Hammond; four great-grandchildren, Avery and Grant Holman, Madelyn and Kendall Hammond; and a brother, Donald Westerfield.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by ten siblings, Edwin, Ernest, Jr. “Shorty”, James, Kenneth, Warren, Eula Rae Westerfield, Thelma Shannon, Betty Mitchell, Katherine Curtsinger, and Amelia Minor. .

The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday April 24, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Bro. Brent Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m., at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
