Free health screenings

Ephraim McDowell Health is sponsoring free health screenings from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on May 1 at the Mercer County Extension Office. Screenings offered are cholesterol, glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, stroke risk and take-home colorectal cancer screening kit (over age 50).  Participants should not eat 12 hours prior to their screening if they would like to have the blood test that gives them a full lipid panel. Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are recommended. To schedule an appointment, call (859) 734-4378.  The screenings are open to anyone 18 years and older.

Hogsett Primary School-Based Decision Making Council — 4:15 p.m. Monday, April 29, for a special called meeting. The agenda includes compile and review principal interview questions; closed session to review and discuss principal applications; discuss procedures for reference checks; review tentative interview dates; and approve principal interview questions.

Boyle County Fiscal Court — 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 30. The agenda for the special called meeting includes: Budget workshop, sheriff department, emergency medical services fund, and general fund. Garden Club of Danville — 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 1 at the Boyle County Extension Service, 99 Corporate Drive. The program will be “Make and Take May Baskets – A Celebration of May Day.”  Club members Madelyn Worley and Judy Sweeney will lead us in making May baskets. Members are asked to bring cut flowers and greens to fill the baskets. We will then take them to friends and neighbors to promote our Saturday, May 18, Garden Tour of Eight Inspiring Gardens, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Visitors and prospective members are always welcome.
