Two arrested on drug charges following pursuit

CASEY COUNTY — On May 3, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Trooper Billy Begley attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a 2003 BMW for a traffic violation on U.S. 127, 4 miles north of Liberty, when the driver began to elude police. The pursuit reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour crossing into Lincoln County and back in to Casey County turning onto Ky. 78, where the driver lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Ky. 49.

A Casey County Sheriff’s Office canine assisted at the scene, alerting on the passenger side of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle resulted in a large amount of suspected methamphetamine being located, along with several syringes and a large sum of cash.

Trooper Begley arrested the driver, 34-year-old Travis Crew of Dunnville and charged him with speeding 26 miles per hour over the limit; improper registration plate; failure to maintain insurance, first offense; first-degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle); first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer); first-degree wanton endangerment; resisting arrest; reckless driving; improper passing; first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, 2 grams or less of methamphetamine; DUI, second offense, aggravating circumstances; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A passenger in the vehicle, 24-year-old Megan Shuck of Liberty, was arrested and charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, first offense, 2 grams or less of methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both subjects were lodged in the Casey County Detention Center.
