Rose Harlow Watts

1930-2019

Rose Harlow Watts, 88, widow of Lewis “Papa” Watts, died Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center.

Born June 5, 1930, in Mercer County, she was the daughter of the late Sam Harlow, Jr. and the late Albert and Spicy Slone Harlow Sallee, Sr. She was a retired registered nurse at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and was a lifelong member of Magnolia Street Christian Church. After retirement she was an Aquatics Rehabilitation Instructor at the Ephraim McDowell Wellness Center and was a member of the Harrodsburg Historical Society. Rose enjoyed square dancing, playing the dulcimer and most of all socializing. Rose was famous for her bread and muffin baking skills.

Survivors include one son, Gary (Joyce) Watts of Mercer County; one daughter, Betty Carter of Franklin, Kentucky; two brothers, Ansel (Lola) Harlow of Blanchester, Ohio and Joseph (Margie) Harlow of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister, Nina Sallee of Olney, Texas; eight grandchildren, Paula (Brent) Logue, Shaun (Danna) McGinnis, Sonya “Sissy” (Patrick) Brock, Kristi (David) Warren, John Shannon (Hiedi) Watts, Justin Ward (Ashley) Watts, Jessica (Todd) Towe, and Tammy (Robert) Sallee; 18 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Donna Watts McGinnis; two brothers, Sloan Harlow and Milburn Harlow; and two sisters, Lelia “Tootsie” Henley and Marilyn Snow.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Magnolia Street Christian Church with Trent Baker officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 10 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
