DBCHS Pets of the week, May 15

Published 8:53 pm Tuesday, May 14, 2019

Our featured pets for this week are Calista and Maximus.

Calista is a gorgeous 1-year-old cat that is mostly white with some gray spots. She was found as a stray, but was wearing a collar, so she recently had a home. Calista is a calm and quiet girl. She enjoys attention and will let visitors pet and hold her although she does like to take little breaks and explore around the cat room. Since Calista’s previous owner has not been found, she is ready to make a fresh start and become a “precious princess kitty” in her new home.

Maximus is a handsome 7-month-old shepherd mix pup. He’s a pretty black and tan color with some white markings. Maximus was surrendered by his owner because dogs were not allowed in the rental property where she lived. Maximus is a sweet boy with a slightly submissive personality. He has had some leash work and training and he will blossom with more attention and continued obedience training to build his confidence. He’s ready to be your loyal companion if you choose him for adoption.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 1.  There will be a charity garage sale to benefit the Happy Paws Spay/Neuter Clinic from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on that date. If you would like to donate items to be sold at the garage sale, they can be dropped off at 311 Briar Cliff Lane, in Old Bridge Subdivision, daily from 4-8 p.m. Please call Cathy first at 859-319-1140 for drop-offs or to arrange pick-up of larger items. This is a great chance to clean out those closets and help support the wonderful work at Happy Paws. Please no computers, electronics or exercise equipment.

PetSmart Charities is sponsoring a national adoption event this weekend. The Danville-Boyle County Humane Society will be participating at our adoption center at the Brannon Crossing PetSmart on Hwy 27 just north of Nicholasville. We will have beautiful kittens, puppies, cats and dogs at the store on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you are interested in adding a new pet to your home, this will be a wonderful opportunity to find your perfect match.

Low-cost, high-quality spay/neuter surgery is available for pet owners with low and fixed incomes.  Call our Happy Paws Clinic today at (859) 691-1137 for an appointment. Please help control pet over-population by having your pet spayed or neutered.
