Helen Irene Estes, 89, died Sunday, May 12, 2019. She was born in Georgetown, Kentucky on June 2, 1929 to the late Everette B. and Mary Montgomery Duncan. Irene was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church for 41 years. She was a Red Cross volunteer for 25 years, past Regent of the St. Asaph Chapter of the D.A.R., former president of the Boyle County Genealogical Society, Regent for two terms of the Daughters of the Union, Faber Wells Chapter, the Chaplin of the State Branch of National Huguenot Society, a member and Chaplin of the Founders of Manakin in the Colony of Virginia and a past president of the Boyle County Homemakers (Junction City Chapter).

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Edward Estes; a daughter, Carol Ann (Steve) Mortensen; and two brothers, E.G. Duncan and Jack Duncan.

She is survived by a son, David Edward (Ellen) Estes; a sister, Mary Alice (Larry) Dettner of Hudson, Florida; four grandchildren, Alexander Estes, Nathaniel Estes, Adam Estes and Benjamin Estes.

The graveside service will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Rev. Basil Hall will officiate. Visitation will be 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., Thursday at Stith Funeral Home in Danville.
