Harrodsburg couple killed in motorcycle wreck Saturday

A Harrodsburg couple was killed in a motorcycle accident near Springfield Saturday evening.
John Bailey, 39, and his wife, Amanda Bailey, 41, were fatally injured when the 1999 Harley Davidson motorcycle he was driving east on U.S. 150 struck a 2007 Jeep driven by Warren Purdom, 59, of Springfield, according to Kentucky State Police.
The accident occurred at 6:57 p.m., as Bailey was attempting to pass several vehicles in a no-passing zone and struck Purdom’s vehicle when he had slowed down to make a left-hand turn, according to police. John and Amanda Bailey were pronounced dead at the scene.
Purdom was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. Passengers in Purdom’s vehicle were Tammi Purdom, 54, and Warren Purdom, 37, both of Springfield; and Makenzie Purdom, 16, of Willisburg. They were transported by private vehicle to the hospital, where they were treated and released.
KSP Trooper Jason Warriner was assisted at the scene by other KSP personnel, Washington County EMS and Fire and Rescue.
