Charles Bernard Montgomery and Carolyn Joyce Abbott were married June 1, 1969 at Parksville Baptist Church with Rev. James Reed officiating.

Bernard, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. (Maggie) Montgomery, completed a 42-year career with Southern States Cooperative. Carolyn, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert M. (Margaret) Abbott, completed 42 years in education, mostly in the Boyle County School System.

They have been blessed with two children, Greg (Liz) Montgomery of Danville and Melanie Montgomery Brummett of Danville; and five grandchildren, Case (Haley) Montgomery, Larkin Montgomery, Gentry Brummett, Cooper Brummett and Mary Grace Brummett.

The couple celebrated these 50 years with a trip to Ireland and Scotland last fall.
