Library to host Great American Swing Dance
The swing dance held at Boyle County Public Library has become an annual event, serving as one of the kickoff festivities for the Great American Brass Band Festival.
The Great American Swing Dance returns 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday in Library Park. Hosted by the library, it’s a family-friendly event, with upbeat swing dance by the Walnut Ramblers.
Anyone who’s never tried swing before need not be intimidated. From 7:30 to 8 p.m., dance instructor Wes Bratcher will offer a free swing dance lesson to start dancers off, before the dance begins at 8. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair and their dancing shoes.
The swing dance lesson, dance and concert are all free. In the event of rain, the lesson and dance will be held inside the library lobby.
The dance provides an evening of great music and fun, and is always well attended, even when the weather doesn’t cooperate.
