Madge Overstreet Purdom, 97, passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019. She was born in Gravel Switch, Kentucky on February 4, 1922, a daughter of the late Clyde and Ethel Myers Overstreet and was the wife of the late H.M. “Preacher” Purdom. Madge was also preceded in death by her only sibling, Martha Wilson.

Madge worked in the drapery department of the former Hub-Frankel Department Store and was a member of Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. She played the piano for Gravel Switch Methodist Church for many years and enjoyed traveling with her late husband. She dearly loved attending the Aniston Camp Meetings and Gospel Singings. Madge was a fun-loving person who enjoyed life and always wanted to share that joy with others.

Madge is survived by a nephew and his wife, Jack and Gail Wilson, two great-nephews, David and Daniel (Erin) Wilson, two great-great-nephews, Samuel and Timothy Wilson, Preacher’s nephew, Bobby Joe (Lois) Ellis, and her special care-givers, David Wilson, Carol Taylor and Sue Beck.

The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 3, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home Perryville with Bro. Daniel Wilson and Dr. Tim Mathis officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m., Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Walden Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Wilson, Matthew Ellis, Bill Singler, Jeff Jackson, Edwin Hagans, Jeff Ryan and Jimmy Overstreet.
