Stanford Road is now open following the repair of a ruptured gas line.

At about 9:30 a.m. today (Friday) a gas line was ruptured on Stanford Road. The road was blocked from Gose Pike to the entrance of Caldwell Stone for nearly five hours as an Atmos crew worked to repair the damaged line. Traffic was diverted to the U.S. 150 bypass.

The line was hit by a piece of equipment, but no further information was available about the incident.

Danville Fire Department has taken readings, according to Emergency Management Director Mike Wilder, who says there was no “build-up,” meaning the area was safe. However, authorities evacuated two houses as a precaution, but Caldwell Stone continued operations as normal, as well as other businesses in the area.
