On July 9, leaders of the series met at the park to pray over the Danville-Boyle County area and for Saturday’s event.

Monty Carney, moderator for the South District Baptist Association and representative for Gethsemane Baptist Church said, “I’m excited about the sharing of Christ, the love of God being present in our community and for our community being family.”

Prayers reflected on the height of community oneness when Pastor Ben Carter, former pastor of Christ the Head Missionary Church, birthed the Unity in Community movement almost 15 years ago. The prayer theme for the summer series is taken from Matthew, Chapter 5, that we the church would become salt and light in our community for God. Also, I Timothy Chapter 2, that we would pray for all in authority that the gospel of Jesus would be furthered in our land.

Dr. Jim Clontz, Director of Missions for the South District Baptist Association, said we all love our children very much. One way parents can love their children is to provide them an opportunity to become a follower of Jesus.

We hope and pray that parents will be able to bring their children to Jackson park this Saturday, not only for a fun time but also to be introduced to Christ. That is our prayer.
