Duvall has been working for the Heart of Danville since October of 2017, serving as interim director since Nick Wade’s departure in March of this year. A Danville resident, Duvall holds a BS in educational ministries from Campbellsville University.

“After undertaking a thorough search that included vetting candidates from within the region and out of state, the Board of Directors is confident that Dustin is the right choice to lead the organization forward,” said Board Chair Valery McMann. “In his nearly two years with the Heart of Danville, we have seen Dustin’s skill at building relationships with community stakeholders and his great enthusiasm for the mission of the Heart. Since taking over as interim director, he has risen to the challenge of running the organization. We are excited for this next chapter of our organization’s history,” McMann said.

Shana Followell, owner of Bluegrass and Buttercream said, “I’m thrilled that Dustin was hired on as the executive director at the Heart.”  Followell added, “… He has made a point to stop into our downtown businesses and cultivate relationships with business owners. Supporting the Heart is much more than just shopping local and attending downtown events. It’s embracing the thought that we are all working towards a common goal of making the culture of our town better. I have no doubt that Dustin will continue to bring about fresh ideas and activities that will further push our entire downtown area into an exciting season of growth.”

The mission of the Heart of Danville is to promote economic vitality and viability in the downtown area and protect the historic character of this community. Their vision is to create a unique and vibrant downtown that celebrates history and the arts, promotes small businesses, and sponsors local events to build a community where people want to live, work, and enjoy downtown Danville.
