The Danville Christian Academy Lady Warriors volleyball team will be in action at Frankfort Christian Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.

This will be Frankfort Christian’s first year as a KHSAA team, and will continue a spirited rivalry against DCA.

“I enjoy playing them every year,” Danville Christian coach Jeannie Gayle Hurst said of the match-up. “I can’t wait to meet them and see what we’ve got. We have a great time playing them every year. It’s going to be a great experience for both teams.”

“Always can’t wait to play them. They’re a fun team to play,” sophomore Maggie Bentley said of what is a friendly rival. “They’re all super nice and we always have a great time when we play them.”

DCA began its season on Tuesday night, also in Frankfort where it fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 26-24) to the Lady Panthers.

Despite opening the season with a loss, the Hurst liked what she saw out of her team.

“We don’t like to lose to anyone but I think we learned a lot tonight,” she said. “We did a lot more substituting than we’ve done before. The girls watched a lot of  what the other girls were doing to help improve their game. That was a positive thing for them.”

“We played hard and we all hustled and we just didn’t come out with the win. But we play them again and I can’t wait to play them,” Bentley added, citing the Sept. 17 match-up against the Lady Panthers.

One area that Hurst noted has improved, but also still needs to be fine-tuned, is their serving.

“We used to not be able to get it over the net, now we can’t get it in the white lines,” she said. We’re going to try so hard on serving and we’re working very hard on all of our fundamentals.”

After the match against the Lady Royals, DCA will next be in action at the 12th Region All-A tournament.
