Tree pruning workshop to be held

The Danville Garden Club will present a tree pruning workshop from  9:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday,  Sept. 12, beginning in the community room at the Boyle County Public Library. The workshop will begin with a one-hour lecture and slide presentation, including handouts about techniques and tools. The group will then go to Constitution Square for a hands-on demonstration of basic pruning techniques, tree care and other related information. The workshop is open to amatuer and professional gardeners.

The workshop will be taught by certified arborist Dave Leonard. In May the Garden Club hired Leonard to do a survey of all the trees in Constitution Square. Because Leonard noticed that many of the trees need pruning, it was decided to hold a workshop for park maintenance employees and the general public. The cost is $25 and registration is limited. Make checks payable to The Garden Club of Danville and mail to The Garden Club of Danville, P.O. Box 1762, Danville, KY 40423. For more information, call Pam Leinauer at 859- 583-3999.
