A Harvest Market will be taking over Farmers Market at Constitution Square on Saturday.

“We want to make it something special, something fun,” said Danville-Boyle County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Jeff Jewel. “We want to get everyone in the fall mood.”

Hosted by Heart of Danville, the park will be decorated for fall and apple cider will be served to the shoppers. Farmers and artists will be selling their produce and wares. And vendors will be offering fall-themed crafts and decorations.

This will be the last big market of the season, Jewell said. A few farmers will be selling the last of their produce on Saturday, Oct. 19 and 26, but this will be the last Saturday when music and special events will coincide with the market, Jewel said.

Local “celebrities” have been invited to read fall-themed and Halloween, kid-appropriate ghost stories selected by librarians at the Boyle County Public Library, Jewell said. And live music will be performed by Travis Kearn and David Robertson.

Hay bales will be stacked to create a little reading nook for children to enjoy after they get their free books from the Boyle County Public Library’s bookmobile that will be parked at the market.

And the Census Quilt will be on display.

Children are invited to bring a pumpkin from home, or purchase one at the Fall Market, and decorated it with paint and stickers, furnished by the Heart of Danville.

The Fall Market will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Other sponsors include AARP, Boyle County Fiscal Court and Boyle County Farmers Market.
