1923-2019

Henrietta Napier Cannon, 96, passed away Wednesday, October 9, 2019. After graduating from Georgetown College, she began her 34 years teaching career in Scott County and then on to the Danville Independent Schools. She was the first director of the Summer Head Start program here in Danville.

Upon retirement, she was the Education Director at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. From there she went on to teach 12 years at Northpoint Training Center. She and her husband, Bill Cannon were also instrumental in getting the funding to begin the Vocational Building at K.S.D. She was an active member at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, past member of Christian Women’s Fellowship, D.A.R., A.D.K. and Business and Professional Women’s Club.

Henrietta will be remembered for her strong work ethic, her sharp wit, her love for sewing, needlework, cooking, decorating and remodeling. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, William L. Cannon. She is survived by her two children, Billy (Gloria) Cannon and Alice (Jay) Reynolds; five grandchildren: Barbara Lynn (Sam) Pruitt, Billy (Rachel) Cannon, Jacob (Mary Beth) Reynolds, Elizabeth Reynolds and Robby (Melodye) Reynolds; and six great grandchildren.

Funeral Service will 12:30 pm, Thursday, October 17, at Danville First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Burial is in Bellevue Cemetery. Visitation 10 am-12:30 pm, Thursday.
